Foraging and Blackberry Crumble

foraging and blackberry crumbleForaging and Blackberry Crumble

We do rather love a late summer, with fruit to forage for free, and the late sunshine is all rather a bonus!

We are lucky enough to have a LOAD of organic blackberries, plums and apples growing near our local park, which don’t really belong to anyone (the council probably, however nobody but us goes and picks them!)

So what better way to use these free foraged resources than to make them into a delicious #OrganicSeptember crumble…and we happen to have some rather cream to pour all over said crumble! lovely.

So for a basic crumble topping, you will need:

225g plain flour
110g brown sugar
75g lactofree butter

Preheat the oven to gas mark 4, 180 degrees C
Slice the apple, remove the stones from the plumbs, and mix with the blackberries, sprinkling with sugar.
Mix the flour and butter, rubbing between your fingers to create breadcrumbs. Add the sugar, to the crumble mixture and distribute evenly over the fruit mixture.
Place in the hot oven and bake for about half an hour.

Serve with cream or custard! If you’ve any cream left over for the morning, it’s also fab with porridge!
